Has anyone tried home-made body wraps, or body wrap kits (with natural organic ingredients) to lose weight? Were you successful?
I have been exercising regularly and eating much, much better- but my weight loss is still sluggish, which is the last thing I need right now!
I am thinking of buying a natural week-long internal cleanse from whole foods or a co-op (can anyone suggest a good one, i've used one kit before and it didn't seem to do anything, but i know my sister-in-law has used one before that made her lose quite a bit, have more energy, and feel better about herself- but i can't seem to find it around where i live- it was some sort of "women's cleanse"- something yerba, maybe? i don't know- i can't remember), and buying the ingredients to make at-home detox body wraps from www.fromnaturewithlove.com so that I could do a body wrap each week to help keep down the toxins.
I'm planning on eliminating all simple-sugars (while still keeping complex carbs like whole wheat flour-based products, some of my fav. fiber one products and, of course, all of the veggies and fruits I want. NOT A LOW CARB DIET! I just feel like i'm addicted to candy and super simplistic sugars that I know are horrible for me, and i think i need a break from them to end the addiction).
The only thing I'm afraid of, is that everything will be water-loss, and if I add back a bit of simple sugar or stop doing the wraps- do you think i'll gain everything back? I know if i just do one wrap- there will be water loss that will be gained back eventually, but a series along with a detox and my regular healthier-lifestyle?
I'm just afraid that at this slow rate, I won't make any of my goals for weight loss that I have planned along with corresponding events in my life, the ultimate one being my graduation from college. I don't want to see family I haven't seen in ten years who still look absolutely amazing looking like the fat blob I am now.
What else would you suggest? any experiences to share? do you think it may be a waste of money/time?
my goals are this:
I started at 215lbs a while ago, I am now down to a whopping 209lbs.wooohooo, 6 lbs. hopefully i'm really a bit less, though, because i just started my period a couple of days ago.
I've been making it to the gym roughly every other day and doing cardio on the elliptical and the bike for 45-60minues, and then strength training for 15-20minutes, but with weekends off because i have to work so much/ so much homework, so, about 3 days a week. I've been TRYING to stick to a diet of about 1500cals. most days I succeed, last night- i had a movie night with the girls and blew it. I've been trying to eat more fruits and veggies and drink more water.
I would like to lose at least 10-12lbs by christmas, and another 10lbs by my vacation mid-jan. which i know will be very difficult with all of the food and alcohol around the holidays. the rest of the weight can come off a bit slower until may 17th (i hope to be 160 or less), and after that, the rest can come off in due course with my healthy life-style and drastic reduction in stress. I know i'm pushing it to assign dates and all, but i find when i am not sticking to a deadline...i do not stick to the diet thinking 'oh, i still have sooo many weeks- i'll just crash diet in the end' which is what i want to AVOID.
do you think my goals are realistic? i won't be too disappointed as long as i make it most of the way and actually see progress and feel better (i have very VERY low energy. mostly to d with my screwed-up thyroid that my doctor will not re-test until Feb. because i had a very hypo reading, then an almost normal reading a month later, even though there are signs of inflammation which means there's probably a viral infection killing of my (*^*&^(&%*&)(&^%$^&$##%% thyroid. Stupid doctors...)
